The cell phone market is hotter than ever. You have so many choices when selecting a phone – android versus iOS, Samsung versus iPhone. The biggest choice you can make though, is going pre-paid versus signing a multi-year contract.
In most cases, paying for your cell phone up front and joining a pay-as-you-go plan saves most money. If you don’t have a lot of cash up front, you might be better off signing a multi-year contract, but in the long run you’ll be paying more.
Here are a few tips to save the most money on your cell phone:
- Get last year’s model. Getting a phone that has been on the market for only one year can sometimes result in savings of hundreds of dollars up front. You might not have the latest features, but cell phones have gotten so good these days that even a phone that is 3-4 years old performs most of your daily tasks.
- Ask your friends about their cell phone plans. Every area in the world has different competitors and plans. Chances are your friends did tons of research before they got their phones. Talk to them and see who they have chosen.
- Do research on the Internet. There are hundreds of websites and message boards on the Internet that discusses cell phones and plans. Join a few and start asking questions, you’ll be amazed at the well-researched answers you’ll get.
