The Healthcare.gov offers health insurances in major sectors. But recently it is facing many problems regarding the online confidentiality and security issues. Many of its user accounts are being hacked and publicized online on the popular Google search engine. Thus, all these accounts easily show up as search results with a simple search on Google.
The personal identity records numbering more than 70,000 are showing up. The search results include first names, last names, address, user names and even passwords with advanced searches on the Google. The hackers first search and after that they tweak the URLs which result. These are revealed by David Kennedy who is the founder of TrustedSec security firm. He also said that he never modified the URLs.
Kennedy did the first testing of the issue in front of the Congressional committee on November. The case has still not being resolved. There are also several other issues associated with the online security threats of the health care organizations. The hacked records are also very easy to hide.
There are many deeper tricks like loop holes are used by the hackers in order to impersonate the links which come from the Healthcare.gov. These links take long to be fixed. The security experts’ like Kennedy also believe that such tricks are very dangerous in the near future. The web site is also very much less secured than fifty per cent of general web sites over the internet. Correct web site configuration is also needed to resolve these issues.
The main health care and medical centers like Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Health Department agency who are the chief developers of the Healthcare.gov have not responded to Mr. Kennedy’s claims yet. Now, they have also have not given any comment on this issue.
The Healthcare.gov web site has been built to help the Americans carry out the online shopping of the healthcare products. But unfortunately, this has resulted in disastrous form by prolonged and dangerous online hacking of the confidential information.
The administrators have to take certain steps like scrambling the web site and fix it and many lead site building employees have been fired. But, if the administration can successfully get the basic problems fixed, the online hacking problems will not occur in the future. Mr. Kennedy said that everything that has been observed from the site is a symptom of even greater issues regarding the web site coding by the hackers. Thus, he will be very much concerned at the time of using it.
